Following the custom of sending flowers for the grand opening of a new shop, these roses were knitted of dyed Merino fiber in March 2003 in honor of the opening of the "Butter and Eggs" home furnishings shop at 83 West Broadway in New York City and sent to its enterprising owner, Judy Dunne. The leaves were spun of a random blend of blue/green silk, dyed Corriedale wool, and dyed Merino wool. The flowers and leaves were attached to floral wire which was wrapped with floral tape. They're shown in the photo to the left as presented, in a wooden pencil holder; below right in a small kauri (wood) vase from New Zealand. |
