This Forest House Fiberworks original man’s necktie was made during July of 2006. It measures 60 inches long, starting from an 18-stitch, 2-inch front, tapering to 1 inch around the neck, and expanding to 1.5 inches by the end. The tie used 1.15 oz. of a hand-dyed 50/50 wool/silk fiber blend from Chasing Rainbows Dyeworks in Willits, CA (approximately 1,050 yards of handspun yarn). The tie features an adaptation of the knitted “linen stitch” which creates an exceptionally flat and sturdy fabric which looks on one side as though it had been woven (bottom). The other side is quite different, but also attractive (below). The “stripes” in the front are a happy accident of the hand-dyed, hand-spun yarn. |
