This jacket was made during the fall and winter of 2003, using a mitered jacket pattern by the talented designer, Norah Gaughan, published in the Holiday 2003 issue of Vogue Knitting International (p. 63). During this period I was exploring uses for variegated dyed fiber as I had acquired quite a lot of it from Chilko Fibres in New Zealand in the autumn of 2002. This jacket used one ply of their Romney wool "Black Tulip" colorway and one ply of charcoal gray American kid mohair. The jacket's front and back are knit in garter stitch (knit every row) "modules" that build on one another. The sleeves are also garter stitch, but without the mitering, the variegated yarn makes pleasing stripes.
