This little horse (10 1/2 inches tall by 9 inches long) was made in January 2006 in honor of Jennifer Schnell’s 30th birthday and in recognition of the two (real live) horses she owns.  Jennifer is the owner of Advanced Skin Care in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and is a truly lovely and talented woman.  Her clients are lucky to be in her thoughtful care.

The horse is hand-knit of handspun New Zealand wool and has natural black Peruvian alpaca mane, tail, and embroidered eyes.  He is stuffed with Hebridean wool.  The design for this amazing (for a knitter) double-knit horse came from Notes on Double Knitting by Beverly Royce (Schoolhouse Press, Pittsville, WI, 1981, pp. 38-42).  The horse’s legs were strengthened with small wood skewers placed inside.
