Fruitbasket Afghan II

This version of the Fruitbasket Afghan was spun and knit in early 2005, using Tunis wool as its predecessor did.  The afghan is for Sandy Sojka’s mother (Sandy is the owner of the original Fruitbasket Afghan, and she and her husband, Gary, raise the Tunis sheep on their farm in Middleburg, Pennsylvania.).  It weighs 52.2 ounces, measures approximately 4 ft. 8 inches by 6 ft., and used approximately 2,900 yards of handspun two-ply yarn.  The primary differences in the two afghans are the completely changed border treatment and the fact that this version does not have fringe.  As with the first FBA, it was knitted in two halves and grafted together across the middle so that the fruitbaskets would mirror one another. Knitting instructions for this afghan will be available for purchase in January 2006.
