This is an early piece, done in New Zealand in 1990-91. It is New Zealand Romney wool that was dyed in-the-grease, an unusual approach. Its buttons are custom-made pewter Kiwis from Blenheim Pewterers in Blenheim, New Zealand. When I realized I was no longer using this as a jacket, I washing-machine felted it (after removing the buttons) and made a bag out of some of the resulting fabric.
