Who can resist such an elegant lady? Alexandra is made from the same wool as the Kiwi Cardigan, 100% New Zealand Romney. She was inspired by the Bear Magill pattern ("Another Kind of Sample Bear" by Juanita Matteson, Spin*Off Magazine, Spring 1995, pp.102-3), but was significantly enlarged. She's shown here wearing her new mohair sweater for the cover of her pattern booklet! The mohair is hand-dyed and came from Ata Ahua Mohair in New Zealand. Alexandra's cousins were made to fill orders resulting from Alexandra's appearance in the November 2003 issue of Country Living magazine. Except for the baby bear (who was a gift to the customer's little girl), they used about 140 yards of yarns similar to Alexandra's, and their faces were embroidered with Hebridean wool. Their scarves were spool-knit in Navajo-plied variegated dyed New Zealand Romney wool from Chilko Fibres. |
