This vest is done in a luscious mix of wool and silk and angora and follows Elizabeth Zimmermann’s instructions for a fascinating garter-stitch project with magical shaping.  It was published in her book Knitting Workshop (Pittsville, WI:  Schoolhouse Press, 1981, pp. 104-107).  The vest is knitted in right and left halves and joined along the center back (below right).   The yarn is a scrumptious wool/silk/angora blend.  A fun project, completed around 1993 or so.
