A Forest House Fiberworks original, Geneen¹s Shawl is made of a blend of CVM (California Variegated Mutant) wool and silk, hand spun and hand knitted during the summer of 2002. This soft and warm shawl is a modified version of the classic shawls made in the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, and features their special shaping which allows the shawl to drape over the shoulders for comfortable, virtually hands-free wearing. The stitch used for the body of the shawl is from Omas Strickgeheimnisse (roughly translated as ³Grandmother¹s Yarn Secrets²) and is called ³Durchbrochenes Rosenlaub² (roughly, ³lacy rose leaves²). The shawl weighs 5.6 ounces and used approximately 1,120 yards of yarn. |
