Forest House Fiberworks offers the experience of working with the designer to create the garment or accessory that is yours alone. Personal consultations, sharing of ideas, and reacting to samples all contribute to a creative process that results in a piece that will last a lifetime with simple care and which will never be duplicated. Each piece comes with a description of its "history" in terms of dates, materials, and design considerations.

Who is Forest House Fiberworks?

Owner Ruth Bradford Burnham has been a fiber worker for over forty-five years, a handspinner for eighteen years. To contact, e-mail ruth at foresthousefiber dot com.

Her work has been recognized by the Canterbury [New Zealand] Guild of Weavers and Spinners and the Mid-Atlantic [US] Fiber Association. She has served as a judge of spinning for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, and teaches knitting for the Bucknell University Craft Center and the Magpie Gallery in Lewisburg. She is a member of the Craft Council of America, the Lewisburg Arts Council, the Central Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.

Her studio and home hide in the woods of central Pennsylvania and she travels the world happily in search of fiber and design resources to enrich the offerings of Forest House Fiberworks. Visits to New Zealand in 2002 and 2006 yielded exciting new fiber treasures. Several items in the Gallery now feature these fibers.

Highlight: Alexandra, the Fruitbasket Afghan, and the Red Roses were featured in the November 2003 issue of Country Living magazine in an article on handknits! Click here to see the article.

New: Patterns to knit Alexandra, the Fruitbasket Afghan, and various sizes of Red Roses, plus other patterns, are available in my new "Shops" area. Check it out through the menu on the left!
